We've all made bad choices, thought bad thoughts or felt bad feelings that we wish we could change. No matter how deep we try to bury these things, they can mark us, maybe even stain us, and make us smell like your lucky highschool gym socks that you refuse to wash.
The way to remove marks, stains, and smells from laundry isn't to throw it in a corner and hope nobody ever finds it. You wash it. You air it out.
The way we'll find freedom from our mistakes is the same - we air them out so they can be washed away, so that we may be made clean. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
To gain an understanding of the dirty laundry our community is carrying around we launched Clothesline Confessions. There are a lot of things being shared that we wish people never had to experience. We also know that none of these things shock Jesus or are beyond his forgiveness and redemption.
