Ministries
Students
Today's students are tomorrow's leaders. Not entirely true - today's students are also today's leaders within their schools, their circles of friends and even in their families.
Ability to love and follow Jesus isn't tied to an age. Some scholars maintain that Jesus' mother, father and disciples would have been teenagers themselves when God called them for his purposes.
If Jesus thought teenagers could change the world, we won't dispute it. So we use our time and energy to care for, train, disciple and reach students so they know they're loved, valued and empowered to impact this world for Jesus.
News and events for students at Danville can be found on the Danville blog and calendar

Care
Life is hard sometimes. We all know this just from living it, and the truth is that things in this world aren't the way they were supposed to be.
Now, we could give a big theologically accurate answer to explain why life is hard and be done with it. We do want to communicate God's truth accurately, but we don't want to do it without actually loving and caring for hurting people.
We can care for people because Jesus first cared for us. He is able to sympathize with us because he took on flesh, and he knows what it is like.

Discipleship
The last thing Jesus told us before he ascended to heaven was to go and make disciples, so that's what we do.
We aren't going to arm wrestle anyone into discipleship. The individual has to choose to follow Jesus. But through relationships, conversations, life groups, service and classes with the counsel of God's word and the power Holy Spirit we can pursue Jesus together and make disciples.
The goal of discipleship is that everyone would know Jesus and be equipped for personal ministry in their daily life.

Children
Jesus said we wouldn't enter the kingdom of heaven unless we received it like a child, so we like to spend time with kids and learn what real faith looks like.
During all our services we have fun and safe environments for children to experience Jesus on their level.

Local Involvement
For a long time people have misunderstood church as a building. When we say church, we mean a community of people who follow Jesus within the larger community. As Jesus followers, we believe it's important to bring transformation by loving and serving the surrounding community. That's what Local Involvement is all about.
School Partnerships
Local Involvement can happen in any number of ways as you serve the community. One of the ways we are accomplishing this is by partnering with Jennie Rogers Elementary School to make a difference in the lives of children. The goal is to engage people from Southland in volunteer opportunities to develop relationships with students, staff, and families.
Currently we have volunteers tutoring, mentoring, providing hands on help with facility improvements, helping teachers in the classroom with various needs, and being available for school events.
Serve the City
Each week some of our members visit families in the neighborhood at the end of east Main Street. They pray and visit with families, play games with the kids, and love their new friends like Christ loves us. The purpose is to help meet basic needs, build relationships with the families and share the love and hope of Christ.
On Sunday afternoons they meet in the Jennie Rogers parking lot at 1:45pm and go to the neighborhood at 2pm. If you’d like to get involved, contact Bill Yeary at lbyeary@roadrunner.com.
