With Jesus, in community, on a mission.

Momentum - Serendipity (Men's Study)

Saturdays, January 7 — February 11

Sometimes, something amazing happens when we least expect it. That’s “serendipity.” This community of men will meet together for six weeks and pray for the Spirit to move in a way that changes their lives, the lives of their families, and the lives of those in the Body of Christ beyond their expectations. Grab a friend and join us for a cup of coffee on Saturday mornings as we study, pray, and hang with our brothers.

Not a Fan

Wednesdays, January 11 — February 15

“I am not a fan of Jesus.” What would you think if you heard someone say that? A fan is defined as someone who is “an enthusiastic admirer” and Jesus did not call us to just admire him. He called us to be “completely committed followers.” In this six week course, we’ll explore the difference between being a “fan” and being a “follower” of Jesus using Kyle Idleman’s (of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville and Southland guest speaker) DVD curriculum.

Q...In Case You Were Wondering

Tuesday, January 17

Bring any questions about Christianity to this event. Jon will be hosting a panel of knowledgeable people to answer any questions you might have. There is no need to register, just come on out!

Forgotten God [608]

Wednesdays, January 18 — February 29

Scripture tells us God imparted his Spirit to us so we could be known for His power. (Acts 1:8; 2 Tim 1:7) Sadly, this is not a description for every believer and church today. The very mention of the words “Holy Spirit” causes a myriad of thoughts and associations, both positive and negative. This confusion and misunderstanding often causes Christ-followers to ignore this special and profound part of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is the “true source of the church’s power” who we have forgotten far too long. When we do so, we “operate in our own strength, accomplishing only human-sized results.” Join us as we study Francis Chan's Forgotten God. You can buy the book here.

The Gospel of Mark

Sundays, January 22 — March 25

The class is designed to cover both beginner basics of the life of Christ and provide in-depth information and challenging teaching for those who have walked with Christ for many years. Bring along a friend or family member who doesn’t know Jesus and walk with them as they learn about the love he offers.

Strategic Parenting

Sundays, February 19 — March 25

What does it take to raise children who truly love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind? Here at Southland we believe that parents have the most significant role in that process. The reality is that there is no "one-size-fits-all-plan" for raising spiritually strong children. But there are some common denominators that can help define parenting success. Come join the revolution of parents determined to raise a generation of spiritual champions who are passionate about their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Momentum Basic (Men's Study)

Wednesdays, February 22 — March 28

What does it really mean to love Jesus? No matter where we are in our spiritual journey, it is always important to be rooted in the fundamentals of our faith. Francis Chan’s new film series, “Basic,” addresses several issues important to having a heart devoted to Christ. Join Southland’s dynamic group of men for this six week discussion. Bring someone with you who needs to experience greater understanding of a Christ-centered community! For more information on the “Basic” series, visit www.basicseries.com.

Brave (Women's Study)

Wednesdays, February 22 — March 28

“We’ve all got insecurities, flaws, and struggles that we’re afraid to address. But if we can be brave enough to raise the questions, God will answer us.” Our questions surround the common struggles of being worn out, sick, scared, undisciplined, feeling invisible, and broken. Join a community of Southland women as we go through Angela Thomas’ “Brave” study and ask these questions together. And we all know that Christians aren’t the only ones processing through these tough themes, bring along a friend who doesn’t know Jesus and help them discover a new way to conquer the things that hold us back!

Spiritual Friendship

Wednesdays, April 11 — April 25

We all love to hang out, right? We all love getting friends together for dinner, to go to the game, to take a walk, or watch the kids play. This class will show us how to turn those simple moments in life into intentional evangelism to help us show our friends who don’t know Jesus just how much he loves them. It’s a tough balance between being the loving, safe person your friends feel comfortable sharing their lives with and feeling the urgency of wanting your friends to have the same awesome relationship with God and the church that you have. Join us to learn how to strike this balance and work alongside the Holy Spirit to bring your friends into the Kingdom of God.

Minor Prophets

Wednesdays, January 11 — February 15

This class will explore what is known as the “clean pages” of the Bible--the pages that aren’t roughed up from being read and reread. Let’s be honest--who has read the Minor Prophets? Our team of teachers will help you read through the books of Haggai, Amos, Malachi, Habakkuk, Joel, and Nahum and understand their importance in the overall story of the Bible and the practical advice they have for us today. Grab a friend who doesn’t know Jesus and bring them along--this is a great way to introduce them to a part of the Bible that they probably haven’t heard before and compel them to see how the story continues through the Gospel!
