Water

Water: It's the basis of life. We shower with it, we drink it, we cook with it - it's  the most basic resource we require. But what many people don't realize is that close to 900 million people around the world don't have access to this most basic need.

Many of us know little if anything about the the lack of clean water in so many countries around the world. Don't believe me? Go ahead and take this quiz; it will only take you a couple of minutes and it may be eye-opening for you!

In many countries across the globe, access to safe, clean water is scarce. The implications of this are far reaching beyond just basic needs for consumption. Sadly, over 42,000 people die each week due to unsafe, dirty water that is used for drinking and basic hygiene. It's a staggering number - especially when you realize that 90% of those are children under five years old.

But, thankfully, this is a problem that has a solution.

With your support, Southland is partnering with Food for the Hungry in rehabilitating water sources in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo - a region that has been heavily affected by the world's water crisis. As we address the scarcity of water in these communities, we address debilitating water-borne illnesses, help eliminate water-related conflicts, and can help in improving the overall health and well-being of children and families.
