Jesus said Go

"Jesus said GO!" is one of four Sunday morning classes that begins this weekend. (If you haven't yet, check out the other classes being offered during May.) This class will look at Christ’s example of ministry in the New Testament and help you see how you can reach out to our local community.  As we hear more and more about the Richmond Road Campus and prepare to develop and expanded local outreach efforts, we want to make sure our approach will be healthy and successful.

Join us on Sunday mornings beginning May 1 from 10-11:00am in Room F116F  for this four week series designed to give us all the information we need to get started in ministry or evaluate a current ministry for health and effectiveness.

Week One – Life On a Mission
Jeff will interview several Southland members who have heard the call to "go" and are currently serving within their communities. We will hear from the leader of an innovative skate park ministry as well as various other neighborhood and sporting ministries as they share where and how God has led them.

Week Two – Helping without Hurting
Have you ever wondered if what we’re doing is really helping? We will discuss the foundational concepts about poverty, basic principles in regards to relief, rehabilitation or development and we will study the strategies we need to carry out those principles. Learn about common mistakes and how to avoid them. We will learn how to minister effectively and respectfully to those in our community.

Week Three – The Bible and Immigration
Chal Knox, pastor of Iglesia Nueva Vida, a local Hispanic congregation, will speak on what the Bible really teaches about working with our local immigrant population.

Week Four – Opportunities for you to serve
If you’re ready to serve, this is the class you need to make sure you attend. We will end our series with an opportunity for you to step out and serve. You will have a chance to use the gifts and talents God has given you.
