Be (Here)

The older I get, the more I find I have so much to learn about our Maker.

I have these tiny moments in my mind where I think I have it all figured out in my life, and BAM! Something straight out of left field puts a completely different spin on everything. And that’s okay. Because the truth is, i need that spin. It serves as a reminder that I am not in control.

But sometimes, the reminder that I'm not in control – though it is much needed – is hard to deal with. Mainly, because I’m a dreamer.

I have a tendency to plot and plan out every season of my life. And when it’s not going according to that plan, I get discontent in the waiting and in the now. How often do I believe I am more high-minded than God? How often do I believe my plan is better than His?

C.S. Lewis once said, “The unfinished picture would so like to jump off the easel and have a look at itself – analysis doesn’t cure that.”

We all want to know how our lives will pan out. And if you’re anything like me, when I am discontent, I want to jump to the end of my story and find a happy ending.

We can’t judge a life in the middle. We can't be so eager for the outcome that we miss the journey it takes to get there.

If you’re in the beginning, or the middle, or the end, be right where you are. And trust Him.

God is the one with the divine plan. He has a grand design for the sum of all things.
